Then the LORD God called to the man “Where are you?”
Genesis 3:9 NLT
I didn’t know where I was.
The career I had pinned all my hopes to was over, it ended as the result of a combination of fear, poor judgement, and misfortune.
I was in the fifth year of what would be my seven-year wilderness journey and had just come out of a life-changing three-day trauma intensive. Two things had happened to me: first, my old operating system, ASW 1.0, was removed, and second, It was replaced by a new operating system, ASW 2.0.
My old operating system was removed when it’s wounds, lies, vows and strongholds were clearly exposed and brought into and under the healing power of Jesus. Because of this, the fear and anxiety that had been the undercurrent of my life was removed. In its place the drivers of my new operating system created a sense of calm and peace that I was not accustomed too.
When God asked Adam, “Where are you?” It wasn’t because God didn’t know, because he knows everything. It was because he wanted Adam to know, where he was. Not his physical location, but his mental and emotional place, his inner world.
Before we can begin our climb to our promised land, there are questions we need to know the answer too: who am I, how was I made, and how do I work? I call these the “Base Camp” questions. But there are three questions that are even more important and are the drivers of every human operating system and the questions that everyone longs to be able to answer “yes” to: am I accepted, am I secure, and am I significant? In my own journey in order to know where I was, I first had to answer “yes” to these most basic questions. Then I could begin the transformational journey from a career into my CALLING.
Can you answer “yes” to these questions? Are you accepted, secure and significant? Unless you can, you will not be able to answer God, when he asks, “Where are you?”
Do you long to know that you are accepted, secure, and significant? You can be, right here, right now in this very moment. Because through Jesus Christ, believing that he died so you could live, all three of these questions are answered YES.
It is only in Christ Jesus where we find our acceptance, security and significance, and in knowing that, we are ready to leave “Base Camp” and begin our climb and become all we were created to be and do.
Let that truth encourage you today.
